Consultations

A consultation is an appointment between a pet owner and a veterinarian or nurse to assess, diagnose, or manage an animal's health, usually arranged for a specific problem or purpose.

What we provide

We offer consultations for dogs, cats, rabbits and other small pets. Consultations can be divided in to two categories:

  • New consultations – these are when we first see the pet for diagnosis/treatment, be it for routine treatment or unwell pet consults
  • Re-exam consultations – these are for ongoing health concerns

Consultations are by appointment only so please call the practice directly to book. All consultations with a vet have a charge. An initial consultation fee is charged when a pet is seen for a new condition. Re-exam appointments may be charged at a reduced fee where appropriate.

Routine Consultations

We want to help your pet enjoy a happy, healthy life. Our routine health consultations cover everything from vaccinations and six-month health checks to weight checks and flea and worming treatments.

We recommend that all pets visit a vet at least once a year for a routine health check. Regular check-ups help us spot potential health concerns early and ensure your pet gets the care they need. Depending on their age, lifestyle and individual needs, some pets may benefit from more frequent visits.

Not every routine appointment needs to be with a vet. Our friendly, qualified registered veterinary nurses (RVNs) can carry out many routine checks and offer expert advice to help keep your pet fit and healthy. Find out more about our nurse consultations. If your pet needs to see a vet, we’ll make sure they receive the right care and support.

Unwell pet consults

If your pet is feeling under the weather, we’re here to help. Appointments for unwell pets can be booked whenever needed, although pets with ongoing health conditions may have regular check-ups arranged in advance.

We keep some appointments available each day for pets who become unwell unexpectedly. Many of our practices also offer early morning, evening or weekend appointments to help fit around your busy schedule.

When you call to book, our friendly reception team will ask a few questions about your pet’s symptoms. This helps us understand how urgently your pet needs to be seen and arrange an appointment with the most appropriate member of our team. If you have a preferred vet you’d like to see, just let us know and we’ll do our best to accommodate your request.

Some conditions may require a longer appointment, particularly if your pet has a more complex problem or may need further investigations, such as blood tests. We’ll let you know what to expect and keep you informed throughout your pet’s visit.

Your pet’s care and your peace of mind are important to us. All initial consultations are chargeable, with any additional tests or treatments charged separately. We’ll keep you informed about any expected costs so you can make informed decisions about your pet’s care.

Consultations are by appointment only so please call your practice directly to book.
